Dental implants in Houston
Missing a tooth, or struggling with a loose denture? Dental implants are a natural-looking, long-lasting way to replace missing teeth — planned with 3D imaging and placed with care by Dr. Minh Nguyen, right here in Northwest Houston.
Losing a tooth affects more than your smile — it can change how you eat, speak, and feel about yourself. A dental implant replaces the whole tooth, root and all, with something that looks natural and lasts. At SoftDental, every implant is planned in 3D so placement is precise, and Dr. Nguyen explains each step in plain language so you always know what to expect.
What is a dental implant?
A dental implant has three parts that work together to replace one missing tooth. Think of it as rebuilding the tooth from the root up.
Am I a candidate?
Many more people qualify for implants than they expect — including patients who have been told in the past that they "don't have enough bone." Modern planning and techniques have changed what's possible.
When teeth are missing for a while, the jawbone naturally shrinks in that area. That used to rule people out. Today, Dr. Nguyen uses several approaches to work around it: bone grafting to rebuild the area, a sinus lift for upper back teeth, and Bicon short implants designed for cases with limited bone height. A 3D scan tells us exactly what your bone looks like before we make any plan.
Good candidates are generally healthy adults with healthy gums who want a stable, lasting replacement for one or more missing teeth. The only way to know for sure is a consultation with a 3D scan — so we can give you an honest answer based on your actual anatomy, not a guess.
How the process works
Every case is a little different, but here is the typical path from first visit to finished smile.
Consultation & 3D scan
We take a 3D CBCT scan of your jaw and talk through your goals. You get a clear, honest assessment of your options.
Precise digital planning
We combine the 3D scan with a digital model of your teeth to plan the exact position of the implant before any surgery — for accuracy and safety.
Gentle, guided placement
Using a custom guide, Dr. Nguyen places the titanium post. The area is fully numbed, and sedation options are available for your comfort.
Healing
Over the next few months, the bone bonds securely to the post. We check in along the way to make sure healing is on track.
Your new tooth
Once healed, we attach the custom crown — matched to your other teeth — so it looks and works like a natural tooth.

Bone grafting & sinus lift
If your jaw needs a little more bone to support an implant, we can build it up first. In plain terms:
- Bone grafting adds material to a thin or shrunken area so it can hold an implant securely.
- Sinus lift gently creates room and adds bone in the upper back jaw, where the sinus sits close to where the implant needs to go.
- Mini-implants can also be used to secure a loose lower denture, so it stops slipping when you eat or talk.
If any of these are needed, we'll explain exactly why, what it involves, and your options — before anything is decided.
Call us at 281-807-6111. We keep room for same-day emergencies and can talk through whether an implant is right for you once you're comfortable.
